What can my baby eat?

Enter your baby's age in months and we'll show you which foods are safe, with prep guidance for their developmental stage. Based on WHO and AAP guidance.

Premature? Use your baby's adjusted age: subtract the number of weeks they were born early (meaning before their due date, typically 40 weeks gestation), converted to months. For example, born 8 weeks early and now 8 months old = enter 6 months. If weeks don't divide evenly, round down to be conservative. Always confirm with your pediatric team.

How this works

  • 6-8 months: Soft foods cut into thick sticks. Steamed, roasted, or mashed until fork-tender.
  • 9-11 months: More texture, smaller pieces as pincer grasp develops. Softer raw foods like cucumber.
  • 12+ months: Most foods are fair game. More complex textures, mixed dishes, family meals.

Popular questions

When can babies start solids?

Around 6 months, when they can sit upright with minimal support, have lost the tongue-thrust reflex, show interest in food, and have good head and neck control. All four signs should be present before starting solids.

What about allergens?

Introduce the top 9 allergens early (from 6 months), one at a time, with 3 days between each new allergen. See our allergen schedule.

Is this medical advice?

No. Always consult your pediatrician before introducing new foods, especially if your baby has allergies or was born prematurely.
